Revisions proposed to tree ordinance
Revisions proposed to the Tree Preservation Ordinance for the City of Mount Vernon may placate some who opposed the ordinance. A new public hearing on the matter is set in conjunction with the monthly meeting of the city council Tuesday, Jan. 12 at 6:30 p.m.

Mars promoted to Chief Deputy

The H1N1 vaccine clinic,Extended
Vaccine to help reduce the effects of the H1N1 flu virus is available for FREE at the local clinic being conducted by the Texas Department of State Health Services, Region 4/5North. The clinic is now open to all persons not just local residents and not just previously targeted "high risk" groups.
The local clinic is being conducted at the 502 E. Main St., east of downtown Mount Vernon. The clinic is in the former Texas Department of Human Services / Department of Transportation building, located next to the Mount Vernon City Cemetery. The clinic's hours of operation are 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. week days, except for New Year's Day, when the clinic will be closed.
